Community Meeting on  
Proposed Big Sandy/Bruceton Mills Oil Field Waste Landfill 
Friends of the Cheat  (FOC) will facilitate a community meeting to discuss 
the proposed landfill sited  near Big Sandy and Little Sandy Creeks, about 3 
miles outside of Bruceton Mills,  on Thursday, June 30th at 7 pm at 
Bruceton Elementary  School.  
The meeting will  begin with FOC staff sharing what they know about the 
proposed facility followed  by an explanation of FOC’s concerns related to the 
landfill’s proposed location  and potential threats to the community and its 
valuable natural  resources.  Following this presentation, FOC will open 
the  floor to community members to ask questions and voice their  concerns.   
Anyone  is invited to participate, with a special invitation to all Preston 
County  citizens, community leaders, and elected officials.  Bruceton  
Elementary school is located on Morgantown Street approximately ¼ mile off the  
I-68 Bruceton Mills exit.
